I'd been missing out skiing for a few seasons due to my usual ski buddies no longer being able to go (due to finances and babies). In 2010 I was desperate to ski and didn't want to miss another year, and so I threw caution to the wind and Googled to see if I could find any solo ski holiday companies.

That's where I came across pistepals.com. It was exactly what I was looking for – a company putting like minded solo skiers / boarders together in a chalet for a week of winter fun. Although initially I was a bit tentative about going solo, I sent Sarah Saunders some questions which she promptly and reassuringly answered and so I went ahead and booked a week in Morzine. I'm so glad I did.

Prior to arriving in Morzine, Sarah got everyone to email each other with introductions - a great ice breaker. She also sorted out transfers and forwarded a great bunch of information about how the holiday would pan out. Pistepals had picked well with the resort, as Morzine had plenty to offer: a picturesque resort, a variety of shops, nice restaurants, lively bars, great skiing and everyone in resort seemed helpful and friendly.

The chalet accommodation provided was incredible, beautifully constructed in pine, with all the facilities you'd expect and more; great views, extremely warm and comfortable, perfectly located with shops and the ski lifts a short walk away, and a great bar: Cafe Chaud, just a stone's throw away.... *result*.

The chalet food was amazing, thanks to pistepals chef Sophie, who cooked some beautiful evening meals for us. Sarah was the perfect ambassador for pistepals, and did a fantastic job of being around for us. Spending time showing us local amenities and ski shops; as well as keeping us laughing and inspiring fun conversations. Added to this, Sarah acted as a brilliant hands on ski guide across the whole Portes du Soleil mountain circuit, and when possible, joined us to introduce us to great places when we ventured out for après ski.

Everyone in the chalet really hit it off, we skied together all week and we had many laughs throughout the days and evenings. I've been skiing about 18 times, and I can honestly say my week with PistePals, Morzine was one of the best ski holidays I’ve ever had. In fact Pistepals were so good; that for the first time ever I used them again to book a second week’s skiing in the same season. I have no hesitation in saying that I’ll certainly be using them again.
