Since the British press has been bitchin' about no snow I thought you would like to see the results of the recent snowfall on 7th/8th December. There's more forecast in the next week too.

I made these levels up to work in with the kind of groups that come along on solo skiing holidays...
Total beginner – never been on snow. (or perhaps once or twice on dry/indoor)
Novice – 2nd day onwards, usually in lessons, learning to snow plough. Can get down flat greens, falling lots. Can venture off on their own outside of lessons, cautious, slow, still falls over when conditions or surface changes. Still sticking to greens and very easy blues, mix of snow ploughing and parrell turns.

According to the British Chiropractic Association (BCA), skiers are most likely to injure themselves at 4pm on the third day of a skiing holiday.

Skiing and snowboarding aren't team sports. You don't need a partner to enjoy it (in fact so many couples are of different levels and preferences that often you are left on your own - and that's not counting the couples with a non-skiing partner!) and it's a highly sociable environment to enjoy off-piste.

Heard this morning Avoriaz had a dump last night! How exciting - first snow of the season (although Scotland had some on the 28th August)

I will refrain from endless wittering as some blogs do - but safe to say I'm very excited about spending the winter in the snow again with all my single ski pals.

Spain isn’t a country normally associated with skiing. The cliché ‘sun, sea and sangria’ is one that is more associated with Spanish holidays.
Yet Spain is a very mountainous country. The second most mountainous in Europe actually – just behind Switzerland.
Bit-by-bit, Skiing is gaining in popularity amongst the Spanish and the millions of people visiting Spain every year. So where to go?
