Welcome to pistepals (the site for solo skiers looking for a ski partner or accommodation with no single supplements) Stay and have a look around at our recommended chalets - or head straight on over to the forum and hook up with a ski buddy. www.pistepals.com/forum As a solo skier myself, I found the industry very much geared towards couples and families. Skiing alone is expensive and lonely. So I thought, why not create somewhere where people can meet up and find a ski buddy to holiday with, or find chalets with no single supplement. If you enjoy skiing alone, then check in the "chalets for solos" pages and you will see special offers from well renowned chalets such as Rude and JustMountain and perhaps offer some advice to other solo skiers as to what to expect, which resorts are good etc. If you are looking for a ski buddy to make up a group then post a message in the forum. Once you've got a group, then check out the chalets for groups page and you will find chalets in there that are most set up for groups of indivduals rather than loads of family rooms. Have fun here - tell all your friends and let us know if you've had a successful skiing holiday! Why not be inspired and read about our recent adventure to Les Gets! Or why not read about our upcoming trips to Portes Du Soleil in April (TBC)or Zermatt in August?!! |

The slopes across Europe have not seen fresh snow in over a week and the spring-like climate continues to soften the snow and prompt freeze thaw. The glacial resorts report lower temperatures on their higher slopes and therefore have better preserved snow at altitude. Pistes have become worn and icy in places. However, strong sunshine softens the exposed south facing areas by midday. Oppdal was the only Norwegian resort to receive fresh snow over the weekend and saw 35cm settle on its slopes creating powder conditions for this week's visitors. Some Scottish resorts had a dusting of snow over the weekend leaving a granular layerover hard pack. The Lecht did not see any fresh snow but is maintaining its slopes with artificial snow. The Californian resorts in America haven't seen any fresh snow in over 10 days and the slopes are skier packed. Bumper snowfall forecast later this week will improve the skiing and boarding on offer. Canada is seeing milder conditions after the snowfalls last week and this has prompted rain in the Eastern Canadian resorts that we report on early this week. Further Information can be found at the BBC Weather Centre or for more detailed and resort specific information go to our partner site which is http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/sports/snowsports/snownews.shtml |
